Castlevania: Nocturne

Castlevania is arguably one of the best action anime series streaming on Netflix. After four great seasons of the critically acclaimed show, it finally wrapped up in May 2021. Due to the success of this series, Netflix decided to commission a spin-off animated series that would later be officially titled Castlevania: Nocturne.

Castlevania: Nocturne is a dark fantasy action anime created and written by Clive Bradley. The complete eight-episode first season will make its landing on Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, and you can expect tons of action-packed scenes and beautiful visuals.

Set in the Castlevania universe, Castlevania: Nocturne takes place during the height of the French Revolution in 1792, and focuses on Richter Belmont, a descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, and a young revolutionary named Maria Renard. After Richter’s mother passes away, he must team up with Maria and a crew of vampire hunters and magicians to prevent the reign of the vampire messiah and save humanity from eternal darkness.

English actor Edward Bluemel voices the main character, Richter Belmont. He’s best known for his previous roles in Killing Eve, A Discovery of Witches, The Halcyon, The Commuter and Persuasion. The rest of the voice cast is made up of Pixie Davies (Maria), Thuso Mbedu (Annette), Sydney James Harcourt (Edouard), Nastassja Kinski (Tera), Zahn McClarnon (Olrox), and Franka Potente (Erzsebet Báthory).
