Another November release to be on the lookout for is Blue Eye Samurai. Netflix will be releasing this adult animated series on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, so make sure to remember the date.

Blue Eye Samurai is an upcoming Netflix original series created and written by husband and wife duo, Amber Noizumi and Michael Green. It’s basically about a young samurai on a revenge mission.

The story is set in 17th-century Edo-period Japan. Japan is closed off to the outside world, and mostly everyone living there is Japanese. From time to time, foreigners might come to do illegal trade, but that’s about it.

During this time, a young mixed-race swordmaster named Mizu sets out on a quest for vengeance to take down the four white men who were in Japan during her birth. Why? Well, she became an outcast because of them, and she believes one of them took her mother. She will do anything to get revenge. With help from a soba maker, a fellow samurai, and a princess, Mizu embarks on a revenge mission that takes her all across Edo-era Japan.

PEN15 co-creator and star Maya Erskine voices the protagonist, Mizu. Additionally, Masi Oka voices Ringo, the soba maker, Darren Barnet as Taigen, the samurai, and Brenda Song as Princess Akemi. George Takei, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Randall Park, Kenneth Branagh, Stephanie Hsu, Ming-Na Wen, Harry Shum Jr., and Mark Dacascos also voice characters in the animated series.
