As usual with Mike Flanagan projects, his latest Netflix series is stuffed with an incredible cast of talented actors. The Fall of the House of Usher stars many familiar faces to those who have seen his previous works, such as The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, and more.
This show also has a big cast, as there are a lot of different Ushers to keep track of, in addition to the supporting cast, many of whom are of equal importance to the main family. The main Usher family
Bruce Greenwood as Roderick Usher

Where have you seen him before?
Greenwood is a talented industry veteran with several awards under his belt. He plays Usher family patriarch Roderick Usher in the Netflix series. The Canadian star rose to prominence playing John F. Kennedy in the film Thirteen Days.
Later, he appeared in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek film reboots and Emmy-nominated series The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Mad Men. Most recently, he starred on FOX’s medical drama The Resident as Dr. Randolph Bell. Other titles you might have seen him in include Elephant Song, Wildlike, Capote, and Being Julia.
Like many cast members on this show, Greenwood has worked with Flanagan before, on both Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game. He and Carla Gugino co-starred in Gerald’s Game and he appeared in a few episodes of Gugino’s series Jett.
Who plays the younger versions of Roderick Usher?
Kid Roderick is played by Lincoln Russo, followed by Alert: Missing Persons Unit actor Graham Verchere as teen Roderick. Friday Night Lights alum Zach Gilford later takes over as young adult Roderick. Gilford has worked in other Mike Flanagan projects before like Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club.
Mary McDonnell as Madeline Usher

Where have you seen her before?
Academy Award-nominated actress Mary McDonnell plays Roderick’s twin sister Madeline Usher. McDonnell received acclaim for her roles in Dances with Wolves and Passion Fish. On television, McDonnell has starred in Battlestar Galactica, The Closer, and The Closer spinoff series Major Crimes.
She’s also been in Donnie Darko, Independence Day, Grey’s Anatomy, ER, Fargo, and more. In 2021, she voiced Lady Zerbst in Netflix’s animated feature The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
Who plays the younger versions of Madeline Usher?
Kate Whiddington plays kid Madeline and then Lulu Wilson takes over as teen Mads. Wilson also starred in Ouija: Origin of Evil and The Haunting of Hill House. Scream and Dare Me actress Willa Fitzgerald plays young adult Madeline.
Samantha Sloyan as Tamerlane Usher

Samantha Sloyan plays Roderick Usher’s eldest daughter Tamerlane Usher. Tamerlane and her husband Bill are dedicated to launching a goop-like lifestyle brand called Goldbug. Tamerlane and Frederick are the only two siblings born to Roderick and Annabel Usher, all the others have different mothers.
Sloyan is another regular in the world of Mike Flanagan, having previously started as Bev in Midnight Mass, Leigh Crain in The Haunting of Hill House, and Shasta in The Midnight Club. She also appeared alongside Kate Siegel in Flanagan’s slasher Hush.
She’s frequented Shondaland a few times, too, appearing in a recurring capacity in Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy. Grey’s fans likely remember her as Dr. Penelope Blake. Who could forget Meredith saying, “Perfect Penny killed my husband.”

T’Nia Miller is Netflix regular at this point between recurring in Sex Education and The Diplomat, in addition to her acclaimed turn in Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. In The Fall of the House of Usher, she plays one of Roderick’s many illegitimate children, Victorine LaFourcade. Victorine and her girlfriend/business partner Dr. Alessandra “Ali” Ruiz are developing a high-tech “heart mesh” device and eager to push it forward to human trials.
Miller is often found in genre fare and outside of Netflix has also starred in Apple TV+ series Foundation and Prime Video’s Peripheral (RIP still not over that one getting reverse-canceled).

Where have you seen him before?
Rahul Kohli is a British actor who earned his breakout role playing Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti in The CW series iZombie. In this new Netflix series, he plays Napoleon “Leo” Usher, another illegitimate child of Roderick’s, is a bisexual video game creator (supposedly) with a serious drug addiction and spends most of his time partying or dealing to his friends and siblings.
He first joined the Mike Flanagan gang playing Owen Sharma in The Haunting of Bly Manor, but has appeared in all of Flanagan’s shows since, including Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club. He’s also appeared in movies like Next Exit and voices Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in the Harley Quinn series on Max.

Actress Kate Siegel has been married to Mike Flanagan since 2016 and has collaborated with him on almost all of his projects. She starred in his films Hush (which she co-wrote), Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Gerald’s Game.
On the television side, she had her breakout role in The Haunting of Hill House as Theo Crain before returning in a leading role for Midnight Mass and now The Fall of the House of Usher, where she plays illegitimate Usher heir Camille L’Espanaye, the Fortunato PR head with a penchant for snooping into everyone’s business.
Siegel also had a smaller role in The Haunting of Bly Manor and even a small cameo in The Midnight Club. Outside of her husband’s projects, she’s also appeared in films and shows like The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Wrath of Becky, and the Netflix Original film Hypnotic.

Where have you seen him before?
Sauriyan Sapkota is a rising star in Hollywood and likely to become a veteran of Mike Flanagan projects in due time. His first role was playing Amesh in The Midnight Club and now he’s starring as Roderick Usher’s youngest (illegitimate) heir, Prospero “Perry” Usher. As the youngest member of the family, Perry has a lot to prove to his siblings and father. He’s constantly looking for a way to show that he has something to offer the Ushers.

Where have you seen her before?
Kyliegh Curran stars in The Fall of the House of Usher as Roderick Usher’s granddaughter and daughter of Frederick and Morelle Usher, Lenore Usher. She’s a teenager and often considered to be the “best” of the Ushers, at least according to Roderick. Lenore is basically the only one in the family to have a moral compass.
Curran started acting with the 2017 movie I Can I Will I Did and then landed the lead role of Abra Stone in Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation of Doctor Sleep. She also played Harper in the Disney Channel series Secrets of Sulphur Springs.
Henry Thomas as Frederick Usher

Where have you seen him before?
Henry Thomas is, of course, perhaps most famous for his breakout role as a child actor playing Elliott in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, for which he won a Golden Globe Award and countless other accolades. From there, he went on to star in movies like Fire in the Sky, Legends of the Fall, Gangs of New York, Dear John, and more. Most recently, he starred in the Paramount+ film Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.
Like his fellow cast members, Thomas has been in many Mike Flanagan shows and movies, such as Ouija: Origins of Evil, The Midnight Club, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and The Haunting of Hill House. In The Fall of the House of Usher, he plays Roderick’s eldest son, Frederick Usher, brother to Tamerlane and son of Annabel Usher.
Frederick is married to Morelle and they have a daughter together, Lenore. Frederick, often nicknamed “Froderick” by his siblings, is similar to Perry in that he’s desperate to prove himself to his father.
Other important characters
Carla Gugino as Verna
Verna plays a mysterious woman with supernatural abilities that appears to be haunting the Usher family. I don’t want to give too much away if you haven’t watched the show yet, but she’s an integral part of the show’s storyline.
Carla Gugino, of course, is no stranger to the world of horror, or more specifically, Mike Flanagan’s brand of horror. She starred in Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and even appeared in an episode of Midnight Mass. She’s also known for Watchmen, Gunpowder Milkshake, and American Gangster. She’ll next star in the Netflix series The Girls on the Bus.
Carl Lumbly as C. Auguste Dupin
Carl Lumbly is a very well-respected acting veteran with over 150 credits to his name. In The Fall of the House of Usher, he plays the assistant US attorney C. Auguste Dupin. Auguste has been working for years to bring down Fortunato, even before Roderick Usher took over. He serves as the prosecutor on the latest criminal trial against the Usher family.
Most recently, Lumbly has played Isaiah Bradley in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will reprise his role in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World. He’s worked with Flanagan in Doctor Sleep and starred opposite Jennifer Garner in Alias. Some of his other notable roles include playing the first Black superhero on television in M.A.N.T.I.S. and for playing M’yrnn in The CW’s Arrowverse.
Who plays the younger version of Auguste?
Malcolm Goodwin, another iZombie vet, portrays the younger version of Auguste. Goodwin is also one of the main cast members in the Prime Video series Reacher.
Mark Hamill as Arthur Pym
Mark Hamill plays the intensely loyal Usher family attorney Arthur Pym, often nicknamed the “Pym Reaper” by members of the family and outsiders alike. Hamill is famous for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film and television franchise. He’s also one of the most popular voices for the Joker in the DC animated universe. He’s also appeared in Creepshow, The Sandman, Knightfall, and, as a prolific voice actor, has lent his voice to dozens of animated projects.
Ruth Codd as Juno Usher
Ruth Codd happens to be one of those actresses who was discovered somewhat randomly after The Midnight Club casting team found her on TikTok. She played Anya in that series and plays Roderick’s young second wife Juno in The Fall of the House of Usher. She’ll also be in an episode of Creepshow season 4, coming to Shudder this month.
