Get ready for the arrival of the all-new horror series, The Fall of the House of Usher! The eight-episode show debuts Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023 at 12 a.m. PT on the the streaming service. And I definitely can’t wait! This is one series that’s bound to make all you horror fans happy. So what is it all about and what can you expect to see?

The story is described as a “wicked horror” series and is centered around Roderick and Madeline Usher, per Netflix. The two siblings have helped build the Usher dynasty, giving the family power and wealth. But that might be taken away with the arrival of a “mysterious woman” killing its heirs. What are Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass about?

Mike Flanagan is definitely a known name on Netflix. After all, he’s the creator of some of the best horror content on the streamer. And he’s the one behind bringing The Fall of the House of Usher to life from page to screen. But it’s all thanks to iconic poet and author Edgar Allan Poe’s short story of the same name that we’re getting the television adaptation.

The Haunting of Hill House goes back and forth between two timelines, following five adult siblings. Each of them has a paranormal experience at the titular home. We see what those are in the past, as well as the present day to see what caused the family to flee and leave their mansion behind. It ran for one season and is part of The Haunting anthology series.

Midnight Mass was released in 2021 and also ran for one season. The story takes place in a small and isolated island community who start to experience supernatural events when a mysterious priest shows up at their home. What did he bring with him?
