There are plenty of horror series on Netflix, of course, but you might overlook some of the international offerings if you’re only seeking out American content. That would be a huge mistake as many of the Korean shows and movies on Netflix are among the streamer’s best content.

From thrilling shows like The Glory, Squid Game, and Mask Girl, to dark series like Sweet Home, Hellbound, and All of Us Are Dead, there are a plethora of fantastic Korean series streaming on Netflix. If you’re looking for something to truly give you a fright this Halloween season, then you’ll want to check out some of there scary Korean shows.

Mask Girl

Even though Mask Girl isn’t technically a horror series, it certainly has elements of terror. Based on the Naver webtoon, Mask Girl is a gripping South Korean series about an office worker who has been told she’s ugly her entire life.

By night, she masquerades as an online camgirl under her “Mask Girl” persona, but when her double life threatens to merge, a disastrous incident sets off a violent chan reaction. Mask Girl is a tense and thrilling black comedy series with a great cast that features actress and singer Nana and The Glory‘s Yeom Hye-ran.

Sweet Home

Speaking of Naver webtoons, Sweet Home is also based on one. This apocalyptic horror series follows Cha Hyun-soo as he leaves home after a family tragedy. Soon, Hyun-soo finds himself facing against horrific monsters and he and the other apartment residents must do whatever it takes to hide from the creatures and stay alive.

A second and third season of Sweet Home are currently in development. Sweet Home season 2 is supposed to come out this year, but with just a few months left, it’s hard to say if that’s still happening. But at least you can catch up now to be prepared when for when it returns!

All of Us Are Dead

If you’re looking for an intense zombie show then All of Us Are Dead is a great choice. The series centers on a high school that becomes ground zero for a zombie break out and forces all of the students to work together (or not) to survive. Season 2 is on the way.

Squid Game

Squid Game is another option that might not strike you as scary but the violence and gore in the show might horrify some, depending on your tolerance level for that sort of thing. Either way, the thrills and chills presented by this Korean series are sure to get you into the spooky mood. Plus, Netflix has that weird Squid Game reality competition show coming out soon, so the two go well together while we wait for season 2.

Hellbound

Hellbound is a horrifying and thoughtful dark fantasy horror show based on a webtoon. Like many of the shows on this list, Hellbound features a supernatural twist where monsters begin terrorizing people in South Korea as part of the prophetic decrees of a “angel.” The rise of these beings forces a faceoff between two different groups, one a cult and the other a gang. The series became a big hit for Netflix, even surpassing Squid Game at one point and a second season is in the works!

Kingdom

Kingdom is another acclaimed horror series on Netflix. This period horror is set during the Joseon Dynasty and is essentially a zombie show about a prince who unwittingly uncovers a terrifying plague that resurrects dead people. Among the zombie shenanigans, Kingdom also has an intriguing political plot that makes it even more addictive. There are two seasons of the show and one special.
