Wendell & Wild

After its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 22, 2022, and its limited theater release on Oct. 21, 2022, Wendell & Wild finally made its way to Netflix on Oct. 28, 2022. If you loved Coraline, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and James and the Giant Peach, then Wendell & Wild is a must-watch, as it comes from the visionary mind of Henry Selick just like the aforementioned titles. Plus, it’s a great family Halloween flick!

Critics have given the movie very high praise, which isn’t all that surprising given how successful Selick’s previous movies have been. Henry Selick is truly a master at directing stop-motion animation films.

Wendell & Wild follows two scheming demon brothers (voiced by frequent collaborators Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele) who enlist the help of punk rock-loving teen Kat Elliot (Lyric Ross), so they can leave the Underworld and make their way to the Land of the Living. Honestly, any movie involving demons is meant to be watched during the spooky season. I don’t make the rules.

It’s a PG-13-rated film, so we recommend adding it to your family movie night line-up. Just remember to add it to your watchlist!

VERDICT: Watch

Add Wendell & Wild to your Netflix watchlist
