Fear Street Trilogy

When making a slideshow on the best Halloween movies and shows on Netflix, you just have to include the Fear Street movies, otherwise known as the Fear Street trilogy. It’s a horror film series that took over the summer of 2021 and was all everyone could talk about. Leigh Janiak directed the films from scripts she co-wrote with other writers. If Fear Street sound familiar to you, it’s probably because you read the popular book series of the same name by R. L. Stine. The movies are based on the book series.

Instead of releasing the films all at once, Netflix decided to release them on a weekly basis throughout July. This kept viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering how the story would continue with the release of each film.

Fear Street Part One: 1994 was released on July 2 and followed a group of teenagers who accidentally come in contact with an evil force responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for centuries.

Fear Street Part Two: 1978  premiered on July 9 and went back in time to the ’70s. The story takes place at Camp Nightwing, where a group of teenagers looks forward to a summer of fun. But their summer of fun quickly turns into a fight for survival when a possessed counselor goes on a murder spree.

The last film, Fear Street Part Three: 1666, was released on July 16 and went back even further in time to the 17th century. It follows the origins of Shadyside’s curse and the teenagers in 1994 who try to put an end to it. All of the Fear Street movies are connected, so you must pay close attention while watching.

I highly recommend checking out the Fear Street movies on Netflix this Halloween, even if you have already watched them. They should be watched every spooky season, in my opinion. They’re just that good!

VERDICT: Watch
