The Haunting of Bly Manor

Mike Flanagan’s follow-up to The Haunting of Hill House is his 2020 horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor. This show is based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, along with other works by the famous novelist. Though this is a totally new story than Hill House, Bly Manor stars some of the same cast, including Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Carla Gugino, and Henry Thomas.

Bly Manor follows an American au pair Dani (Pedretti), who comes to England and starts caring for two young children living at the manor. As evidenced by the title of the show, not everything works out as expected because, well, the place is haunted. Ghosts exist among the living as Dani learns about the manor’s deadly history.

Though there are innocent spirits about, there are also troubled ones who will kill anything in their way of getting what they want. Dani must navigate this and save the children, with help from others on the property.

If you loved The Haunting of Hill House, you better add The Haunting of Bly Manor to your watch list. And if you’re making your way through Flanagan’s works on Netflix, you’ll be happy to know he has another big project on the way with the upcoming The Fall of the House of Usher.
