Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass is without a doubt one of the best horror TV shows on Netflix, and creator Mike Flanagan also hails it as his favorite out of all of his works.

The Flanagan-created miniseries debuted in time for spooky season in 2021 and quickly became a critical success. This seven-episode show is a lot darker than Flanagan’s previous shows for the streamer, which include The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Starring an ensemble cast of Hamish Linklater, Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, and others, Midnight Mass follows characters in a small fictional town called Crockett Island, where everyone knows each other and goes to church every Sunday. When a new priest (Linklater) shows up, everything changes. And what seems like a miracle at first turns out to be the complete opposite.

The show is truly fantastic, with some of the best monologues to ever come out of a Netflix show. Hamish Linklater was seriously robbed of an Emmy or Golden Globe nomination for his unforgettable portrayal.

If you’re looking for something compelling and pretty scary, Midnight Mass is for you. We really hope Flanagan makes more projects like this in the future.

VERDICT: Watch
