Resident Evil

Adding any film or television adaptation of Resident Evil to a list since video game fans are famously divided on the many different movies that have come out attempting to adapt the popular and iconic games for the screen. The most recent effort, Netflix’s live-action Resident Evil series, was one of the most polarizing in recent memory.

Despite enjoying it, I can understand why the show generated such a conflicting response as some of the writing was really poor. It also felt like the show didn’t really try wrapping up its storylines, so it ends up leaving us on a huge cliffhanger. However, Lance Reddick is excellent as always as Albert Wesker. Previously, Netflix also had other Resident Evil films available, but right now the only option is Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

The first 2002 film by Paul W.S. Anderson is streaming on Prime Video and MGM+, and while you’ll still find people arguing about it, the 2002 movie is genuinely agreed upon to be the best of the live-action adaptations. Personally, I’ve enjoyed all the movies and shows, but I think of them as sort of separate entities from the video games.

If you want some badass action sequences and zombie kills, then watching any of the movies or shows is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween. But keep in mind that the Netflix show ends with several big cliffhangers.

VERDICT: Skip
