The iconic Roald Dahl’s work has been adapted again, but this time into a short film format. Dahl’s short story The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, along with several other short stories by him, have been adapted into short films for Netflix, and they’re all scheduled to be released in late September 2023.
Some of Dahl’s previously adapted work was his children’s novels Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr Fox. All of these books were adapted into feature films.

How many short films are in Roald Dahl’s Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar collection?
Technically, there are only two short films in Roald Dahl’s Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar collection. Those movies are The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and The Swan. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar will be released on Netflix on Sept. 27, while The Swan drops on Sept. 28.
Two other short stories by Dahl titled The Ratcatcher and Poison have been turned into short films as well but are not part of the Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar collection. They will be released on Netflix in September 2023. The Rat Catcher drops on the streaming platform on Sept. 29, and Poison on Sept. 30.
Overall, there have been four short films made from Roald Dahl’s short stories collection: The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Swan, The Rat Catcher and Poison.
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar has a runtime of 39 minutes, while the rest of the short films have runtimes of 17 minutes each.
