A Spy Kids reboot starring Zachary Levi and Gina Rodriguez is almost here! While Spy Kids: Armageddon isn’t connected to the original movies that first came out in the early 2000s, it is still part of the franchise. And, Robert Rodriguez returns once again to direct, co-write, and produce the new iteration. And while the first four films are geared towards families, is Armageddon the same?

The production follows Tony Tango Torrez and his sister Patty Tango-Torrez who have to become spies themselves after they accidentally help a “powerful” game developer take control of all technology, per the synopsis. He’s been able to do so by releasing a computer virus. The siblings are tasked with saving their parents, the “world’s greatest secret agents,” and the world. Will they be able to do so?

The movie drops Friday, Sept. 22, 2023 on Netflix. So will you be able to watch it with your children? Is it a family film? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Spy Kids: Armageddon parents guide: Is the movie appropriate for kids?

Spy Kids: Armageddon is rated PG for sequences of action, per the Motion Picture Association. This means that there might be some scenes that aren’t necessarily violent, but include fighting that parents should be aware of. After all it is a spy action comedy, so it makes sense.

PG means parental guidance suggested, so be sure a parent or adult is either present or has watched the movie first. But even with this age rating, that doesn’t mean it’s not a production for the whole family to enjoy! The original films were geared towards children and families, and the reboot is just the same. Just be mindful of some of the action scenes.

Zachary Levi and Gina Rodriguez star as parents Terrence Tango and Nora Torrez, respectively. The two youngsters becoming spies themselves and playing their onscreen kids are Tony Tango-Torrez as Connor Esterson, and Everly Carganilla as Patty Tango-Torrez. Also part of the cast list are D.J. Cortona as Devlin and Billy Magnussen as Rey “The King” Kingston.

Spy Kids: Armageddon begins streaming Friday, Sept. 22, 2023 on Netflix.
