El Conde cast: Who stars in Pablo Larraín’s horror comedy?

Academy Award-nominated Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín has a new movie out on Netflix! His film El Conde is a satirical darkly comedic horror film that reimagines the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet as a 250-year-old vampire. With shades of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and scathing wit, El Conde is an absolute must-watch that is sure to be on the circuit this awards season.

While American audiences might not be super familiar with the actors in this movie, now is the perfect time to get to know them and maybe try watching some of their other notable projects! El Conde cast

Jaime Vadell, a beloved Chilean actor with a prodigious theater and television background, stars in El Conde as the titular character, Augusto Pinochet, or The Count.

Vadell is an 87-year-old actor with a lauded career that boasts performances in nearly every medium. He’s been in over 30 Chilean films and continues to perform on the stage as well. He’s also received multiple awards over the decades, including a Pedro Sienna Award, a Máscara de Oro Award, and more.

Starring as Pinochet’s equally despicable wife, Lucía, is Chilean actress Gloria Münchmeyer. Like Vadell, Münchmeyer has worked in theater, cinema, and television. She’s appeared in 20 feature films and been honored with significant awards, such as the prestigious Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival in 1990 for her work in La luna en el espejo.

Alfredo Castro portrays Pinochet’s rather depraved and uber-loyal “slave,” Fyodor. He’s previously worked with director Pablo Larraín in several of his projects, like The Club, No, Post Mortem, Fuga, and Tony Manero. He also starred in the 2014 film From Afar, which went on to win the Golden Lion at the 2015 Venice Film Festival.

Rounding out the main cast is actress and dancer Paula Luchsinger, who plays the nun Carmencita. Luchsinger has been in the entertainment industry for seven years now and started her career in Larraín’s 2019 movie Ema. She also starred in the police series La Jauría, which you can currently watch on Max.
