Virgin River season 6 is not coming to Netflix in 2023

There has never been a better time to be a Virgin River fan! Ten new episodes just dropped on Sept. 7, two holiday episodes are coming this November as part of season 5, and the show has already been renewed for a sixth season!

If you’ve just finished the first ten episodes of season 5, the good news is that you can look forward to two more episodes coming your way before the end of the year. While season 5 wasn’t technically split into two parts, there are two additional episodes coming this year which are part of season 5.

These two episodes are being billed as holiday episodes and will see the holiday season arrive in Virgin River, but they’ll also pick up where the tenth episode of Season 5 left off in furthering the stories from the finale.

Those two episodes will help wrap up the show’s fifth season and then the wait for season 6 will begin.

Virgin River season 6 release date predictions

At this time, we don’t yet know when Virgin River season 6 will be coming to Netflix; however, we’re anticipating that the next season will likely arrive sometime in late 2024.

Originally, season 6 was to begin filming this summer; however, Virgin River is among the many shows affected by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike with production on the show being on an indefinite hold.

The good news is that Virgin River is not a show that has a lot of special effects which should help Netflix to turn around the season in a relatively quicker timeline than it needs for shows with lots of special effects such as Stranger Things and The Witcher. 

So long as filming is able to begin by the end of the year or early in 2024, there is a strong chance Netflix will still be able to release a new season of Virgin River in 2024. What’s most likely to happen is that the season will come in the fall months likely between September and November 2024.

Of course, we’ll have to wait for an official update from Netflix to know when the season is coming but for now, we just know with certainty that season 6 won’t be coming before the year’s end.
