If you’re a fan of the 2000 AD comic strip, then you were probably happy to know that the comic was being adapted into a film. In 2012, that came true with the debut of sci-fi production Dredd. And now, it’s getting a wider audience thanks to Netflix adding the film to its catalog! So who stars in the movie?

The dystopian project didn’t do well in the box office, only having grossed just over $41 million against its $30–45 million budget. However since it was made available via home release, it gained popularity and now has a cult following.

The film is set in Mega City One, “a vast, violent metropolis where felons rule the streets,” per the synopsis. The only ones holding people accountable are cops called judges, and the titular character Dredd is one of them. When he partners with rookie Cassandra, the two have to take down Ma-Ma, a drug lord who is determined to keep her “empire” afloat.

Karl Urban takes on the lead role of Judge Dredd. His character has the power of being a judge, jury, and executioner in the dystopian world. The actor has become most recognized as Éomer in the second and third The Lord of the Rings movies, Leonard McCoy in the Star Trek reboot films, Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok, and Billy Butcher in The Boys on Prime Video.
