If you were hoping for a new movie to watch on Netflix for Labor Day weekend, the streaming service kicked off the holiday weekend with a surprise drop. Olivia Wilde‘s much talked about 2022 directorial effort Don’t Worry Darling has landed on Netflix.

The movie was released in September 2022 amid one of the most intriguing promotional buildups in recent memory. Academy Award nominee Florence Pugh and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Harry Style star in the psychological thriller, which performed modestly at the box office and received mostly negative reviews from critics.

After the film’s release in September 2022, the film landed on Max (then known as HBO Max) for streaming, and it’s still available to watch on the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streaming platform. But in a shocking turn of events, the Warner Bros. movie has found a second streaming home.

Don’t Worry Darling available to watch on Netflix

Almost one year removed from the high-profile release of Don’t Worry Darling, Netflix revealed the exciting and unexpected news that the film had been added to the streamer. Prior to the film’s drop on Netflix, its addition had not been announced.

Being that the film’s arrival on Netflix wasn’t discussed ahead of time, it’s unclear exactly how long the movie will be streaming on Netflix. While the streamer has a deal with Sony to distribute its movies following their theatrical releases, Netflix doesn’t typically receive Warner Bros. movies, as they tend to stream on Max.

It’s definitely an amazing surprise for fans of the movie who would like to watch it again on Netflix, and for those who didn’t get to chance to see the movie and maybe don’t have access to Max. There’s no doubt that now that it has become more accessible, Don’t Worry Darling will have a second wind in popularity and perhaps even become a cult favorite.
