Family Switch release date, cast, synopsis, and more

A new comedy film starring Jennifer Garner is coming to Netflix this fall, and we’ve created a guide to keep track of all the important details about the upcoming movie!

Family Switch (formerly titled Family Leave) was first announced in February 2021, with Golden Globe Award-winning actress Jennifer Garner on board to produce and star. Additionally, Nicole King of Linden Entertainment and Lawrence Grey and Ben Everard of Grey Matter Productions were announced to be producing the movie with Garner. David Hyman and Jason Brian Rosenthal are executive producers.

McG, who is best known for directing the films The Babysitter and Rim of the World, signed on as director and producer. In addition, Adam Sztykiel is writing the latest draft of the script based on Victoria Strouse’s original screenplay.

Like many other Netflix films, Family Switch is inspired by another piece of work. It’s inspired by New York Times bestselling author Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s book Bedtime For Mommy.

Luckily for us, we don’t have to wait much longer to watch the family comedy. Family Switch will premiere on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

As we mentioned earlier, Jennifer Garner was the first actor to be cast. She will be playing Jess Walker. In November 2022, Ed Helms was announced to be joining the cast. He will be portraying the role of Bill Walker.

The latest cast additions include Wednesday star Emma Myers and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers star Brady Noon taking over the roles of CC and Wyatt. CC and Wyatt are Jess and Bill’s kids. Additionally, Heart of Stone star Matthias Schweighöfer has joined the cast alongside comedian Fortune Feimster, legendary actress Rita Moreno, and more!

Family Switch synopsis

Here’s what the film will be about via a Netflix press release below:

"Jess and Bill Walker are doing their best to keep their family connected as their children grow older, more independent, and more distant. When a chance encounter with an astrological reader causes the family to wake up to a full body switch, on the morning of the most important day of each of their lives, can the Walkers unite to land a promotion, college interview, record deal and soccer tryout?"
