2. Mask Girl

Mask Girl is one of the newest releases on this list, so it would be easy to miss it if you don’t regularly check new additions to Netflix, especially the ones originating outside the US.

This dark, genre-bending series is an excellent new Korean drama featuring magnetic performances, jaw-dropping twists, tight plotting, and a brisk pace. With only seven episodes, you’ll find yourself flying through Mask Girl quickly.

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, Mask Girl follows an insecure young woman who uses an online cam girl persona as a form of escapism. Kim Mo-mi spends her days being overlooked at her office job where she’s crushing on her married boss, but he doesn’t seem to notice her.

At night, Mo-mi puts on her mask and livestreams herself dancing and taking requests from thousands of her online fans. But one evening, a drunken Mo-mi does something online she cannot take back, triggering the first domino in a chain of incidents that will haunt her for the rest of her life.

Elsewhere, a desperate mother (played by The Glory’s Yeom Hye-ran) realizes Mask Girl is involved in her son’s disappearance, and she’ll do anything to track her down.
