2. Fear Street Part 2: 1978

Fear Street Part 2: 1978 is probably the most popular of the three movies, mainly thanks to its cast, including über-talented Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. It’s also the entry that could stand independently without needing the other two films to combine all the pieces. It’s essential to watch all three films, but Fear Street Part 2 feels more like its own thing than the preceding or concluding movies in this trilogy.

I still found the third film better because it’s the grand finale. Nonetheless, Fear Street Part 2 is an absolute blast from start to finish, and it takes place in one of the most beloved slasher film settings: a summer camp. Fear Street Part 2 takes us into 1978 as we explore how the rivalry between Shadyside and Sunnyvale began.

Gillian Jacobs, who plays the adult version of Ziggy Berman, passes the torch to Sink, who takes center stage in this story that functions as a prequel to the first film and explores Ziggy’s story during her time at Camp Nightwing.

And even though Sink is the standout, the entire cast is fantastic, especially Emily Rudd and Ryan Simpkins, who plays Ziggy’s sister Cindy and fellow counselor Alice, respectively. Like the first film, Fear Street Part 2 has plenty of homages to classic horror films while still providing an original twist.
