The River Wild cast: Who’s in the adventure thriller movie?

On Aug. 1, Netflix dropped the adventure thriller movie The River Wild. If you’re looking for something that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, this is definitely a film worth checking out.

The River Wild, also known as River Wild in some regions, is a movie helmed by Ben Ketai from a screenplay written by Denis O’Neill, Mike Nguyen Le, and Ketai himself.

If you were wondering why this film sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because you watched the 1994 movie of the same name starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon. It’s a reboot of that film.

It follows a pair of siblings who embark on a white-water rafting adventure with a small group of others. But things go awry when one of their childhood friends with a troubled past joins them on the trip. What they thought would be a fun adventure quickly turns into a complete nightmare when they find themselves having to fight for their lives aboard a raft venturing through a wild river.

The River Wild cast

Leighton Meester stars in the leading role of Joey Reese, one of the siblings. Meester is best known for previously portraying the role of Blair Waldorf in the popular teen series Gossip Girl. She also appeared in the movies Country Strong, The Roommate, Monte Carlo, The Judge and The Weekend Away. You might’ve even watched her in the short-lived ABC sitcom Single Parents.

Taran Killam plays the role of Gray Reese, Joey’s older brother, who joins her on the white-water rafting trip. Killam is known for his previous roles in the TV shows The Amanda Show, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl and Single Parents. He also had roles in the movies Big Fat Liar, Just Married, Stuck in the Suburbs, Epic Movie, My Best Friend’s Girl, Brother Nature and Night School.

Adam Brody portrays Trevor in the adventure thriller. Trevor is a childhood friend of Joey and Gray who joins them on the rafting trip. Brody is best known for his previous role as Seth Cohen in the teen drama series The O.C. He’s also had roles in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jennifer’s Body, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Shazam!, Ready or Not and Fleishman Is in Trouble.

Here’s a fun fact! Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are married in real life.
