Sweet Magnolias season 3 is streaming now on Netflix and there is a lot to love about the third season of Netflix’s beloved drama based on the books by author Sherryl Woods.

Season 3 is full of romantic developments for all of our favorite couples. While some of these developments are sure to leave fans feeling fulfilled, there are also some unexpected twists that are also sure to have fans feeling a bit heartbroken for their favorite characters — including one of the three Magnolias.

The season also brings plenty of drama as we get to know more about Kathy, aka the unnamed woman who blew into town at the end of season 2 prepared to stir up drama for the Magnolias; learn what happens after Cal was arrested; and watch one of the most intense lows for the Magnolias from the entire series!

Fans can’t stop talking about the new season, but with its release, there is also a lot of uncertainty among fans over what the future holds for the show now that season 3 has arrived.

Warning: Sweet Magnolias season 3 finale spoilers ahead.

Is Sweet Magnolias over: Is this the last season of Sweet Magnolias?

Unlike the first two seasons of the show which ended with major cliffhangers, season 3 ends on a lighter note and does not conclude with any shocking cliffhanger. While there are questions connected to key storylines, season 3 ends with more closure than fans have become used to which has many wondering whether Sweet Magnolias might be over.

Although the season 3 finale did not end with a major cliffhanger, the season 3 finale was not designed to be a series finale. Rather the writers decided they wanted to shake things up by not pulling out a shocking twist just to keep fans talking and end things with a cliffhanger such as we saw with the car accident in season 1 or Cal’s arrest in season 2.

This means the writers indeed have more stories planned out beyond the events of the season 3 finale.

Is Sweet Magnolias getting a season 4?

As of July 29, Netflix has not yet announced the renewal of Sweet Magnolias for season 4; however, we’d be shocked if Netflix did not bring the show back for at least one more season. While season 3 did end without any major cliffhangers, there are still many unresolved storylines in the show which we imagine the creative team hopes to still explore.

This includes what is next for Helen and Erik after the events of season 3 which saw the pair going their separate ways but ended with a subtle hint of a rekindling of their relationship in the future. There are also many other loose ends to address such as what Isaac pulled Noreen aside to reveal at the vow renewal, and the fact that Isaac has still not told Maddie’s kids about his connection as their half-brother.

Due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it’s unclear how quickly we might learn of Netflix’s decision to renew the show for a fourth season. That said, we are optimistic Netflix will hand out another season and continue to explore the rich stories to be had in the town of Serenity.

Will Sweet Magnolias be renewed?

The odds of Sweet Magnolias being renewed seem promising as the show remains a hit among fans and is relatively cheaper to make when compared to series such as Stranger Things, The Wicher, and Wednesday. Season 3’s arrival, the show has been in the Netlfix Top 10 and season 3 seems to be well received by fans.

Given the show ended the season with many loose ends still in need of resolution, it’s clear that the writers did not approach season 3 as a final season. This means we’re just going to have to wait to see what Netflix decides to do but a renewal seems likely.
