Millions of fans first fell in love with JoAnna Garcia Swisher in her role as Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery in the hit 2000s sitcom Reba. Now, she’s one of the leading stars of Netflix’s hit romantic drama series Sweet Magnolias, which dropped its third season in July 2023.

In the series, Garcia Swisher plays Maddie Townsend, a woman and mother of three whose marriage ends because of her husband’s affair. With the help of her best friends and small-town community, Maddie bounces back with a new relationship and business.

Netflix fans have also seen Garcia Swisher as the host of The Ultimatum: Queer Love, a role she stepped into as an ally, though these days, she’s most beloved as Maddie. Let’s get to know the talented actress a little better and delve into some facts about the Sweet Magnolias star.

Back in 2008, Garcia Swisher told People En Español that she’s open to taking on a Spanish-language acting role while also speaking to that fact that because she doesn’t present Hispanic “in a stereotypical way,” Spanish-language roles didn’t present themselves to her early on in her career.
