Castaway Diva release updates, cast, synopsis, and everything we know so far

Netflix wasn’t lying when it said it would be releasing tons of Korean content throughout 2023. We’ve just learned that the streamer will be dropping a Korean drama called Castaway Diva soon, and we want to make sure everyone’s in the know about this new series.

We’ve already seen the releases of many great Korean dramas, movies, and unscripted shows this year. We’re talking K-Dramas such as Crash Course in Romance, Love to Hate You, Black Knight, Bloodhounds, King the Land, Celebrity etc. When it comes to Korean films, we’ve seen movies like JUNG_E, Unlocked and Kill Boksoon drop on the streamer. And you know we had to tune in and watch the Korean reality shows Physical: 100 and Siren: Survive the Island.

There’s so much more Korean content confirmed to be coming to Netflix by the end of the year, and we can’t wait to watch every single one. But Castaway Diva is definitely a show we’re excited about and looking forward to seeing!

Castaway Diva release updates

Unfortunately, we do not have an official release date for Castaway Diva just yet. When Netflix announced the new Korean series, the streaming giant only revealed that the show would be coming out in late 2023. This means we could see it released somewhere between September and December.

Obviously, we would like to see this show sooner rather than later. So, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a September release. We’ll make sure to share the release date once it’s announced.

Castaway Diva cast

If you were a big fan of the hit legal drama series Extraordinary Attorney Woo, you’ll be glad to know that the leading actress from that show is the leading actress in this show. Yes, you read that right. Critically acclaimed actress Park Eun-bin plays the protagonist, Seo Mok-ha.

Here’s who else is confirmed to be in the series:

• Kim Hyo-jin as Yoon Ran-ju
• Chae Jong-hyeop as Kang Bo-geol
• Cha Hak-yeon
• Kim Joo-hun

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yoon Ran-ju was a “once-popular singer and Seo Mok-ha’s idol, who seeks a new lease on life after encountering her fan from the island.” Additionally, Kang Bo-geol is a “calm and introverted variety show producer and director.”

Oh Chung-hwan, whose known for directing the Korean series Hotel del Luna and Big Mouth, helms this show. In addition, Park Hye-ryun (Start-Up, While You Were Sleeping) wrote the scripts.

Castaway Diva synopsis

The show follows an aspiring singer named Seo Mok-ha, who, after being stranded on a deserted island for 15 years, commences a journey to become a diva.
