Where was The Tutor movie filmed? (The Tutor filming locations)

Netflix released the mystery thriller The Tutor on July 8, and it didn’t take long for it to rise up the top 10 movies list on the platform. As of July 11, it’s ranked at the No. 4 spot. But this isn’t really surprising, seeing as though it stars Noah Schnapp. People absolutely love the Stranger Things star.

The mystery thriller follows a professional tutor who couldn’t be more happy to secure a high-paying tutoring gig for a billionaire’s son, only to soon become his student’s obsession. Schnapp plays Jackson, a wealthy teen who becomes obsessed with their private tutor. In addition, Garrett Hedlund plays the role of Ethan Campbell, a private tutor who is assigned the job of instructing Jackson.

Victoria Justice, Jonny Weston, Ekaterina Baker, Michael Aaron Milligan, Kabby Borders, Kamran Shaikh, Joseph Castillo-Midyett, Exie Booker, and Jenna D’Angelo are also in the cast.

While The Tutor‘s story takes place in New York, viewers might be wondering if the movie was actually shot in the East Coast state. As always, that’s no problem for us. We shared where the mystery thriller flick was filmed below.

The Tutor filming locations

Production on the movie is believed to have started in late March 2022 and wrapped in early May of that year. The majority of the film was shot in and around Birmingham, Alabama. So no, it was not filmed in New York.

According to The Cinemaholic, various scenes were shot near the Lyric Theater in Birmingham and in and around the historic Moody Mansion located in Bessemer, Alabama.

The cast and crew also filmed scenes in two different homes in Mountain Brook, Alabama. As reported by Village Living, a woman named Sara McDonald owned one of the residential properties, and Dr. Mark Clark the other one. Filming took place for three days at McDonald’s property, with the cast and crew using McDonald’s driveway for scenes and the inside of her home. Lastly, scenes were shot on a lake outside the city called Lake Martin.
