Survival of the Thickest cast: Who’s in the Netflix series?

Well-known stand-up comedian and actress Michelle Buteau returns to Netflix with her new series Survival of the Thickest, landing on the streaming platform on July 13. As we mentioned above, Buteau plays the role of Mavis. Mavis starts the series as an assistant fashion stylist in Manhattan, happily in love with her photographer boyfriend, Jacque. But her world gets turned upside down when she comes home to find Jacque in bed with another woman.

Buteau is best known for her roles in the Netflix movies Someone Great and Always Be My Maybe. She also had roles in the films Work It, Marry Me, Moonshot and Crush. She played the role of Bree Washington in the BET+ series First Wives Club and voiced several characters in the animated series Bless the Harts.

She was born on July 24, 1977, in New Jersey, making her 45 years old as of July 2023. She’s also been married to  Dutch photographer Gijs van der Most since 2010, and they share twins named Hazel and Otis van der Most, who were born via surrogacy in January 2019. Tone Bell as Khalil

Khalil is an art instructor and one of Mavis’s best friends who helps her get her life back on track after a devasting breakup. He usually shies away from long-term relationships, but his outlook on love starts to change when he develops feelings for one of his students.
