Netflix has tons of great romantic movies and shows available to watch, and the streaming service has many more in store! This September, Netflix will release the highly-anticipated film Love at First Sight, starring Haley Lu Richardson, Ben Hardy, Jameela Jamil, and Rob Delaney. The movie will be directed by Vanessa Caswill with a screenplay by Katie Lovejoy.

If you’ve enjoyed other Netflix romances like Your Place or Mine, Falling Inn Love, The Perfect Pairing, or To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, then you’ll definitely want to add Love at First Sight to your watchlist. The film follows Hadley (Richardson), who misses her flight from New York to London.

She meets Oliver (Hardy) in a chance encounter, and the two form an instant connection. But the next day, they lose track of one another in the chaos of the airport. Will fate help them find their way back together?

Is Love at First Sight based on a book?

Yes, Love at First Sight is an adaptation of Jennifer E. Smith’s 2012 young adult contemporary romance novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. Smith has written several novels, but this book is one of her most popular. If you want to read the book before the movie is released, you can purchase it on Amazon in paperback or hardcover. It’s also available in e-book format and audiobook.

The good news is that Smith’s novel is short, running only about 272 pages, though that number might vary slightly depending on what format you purchase. It’s recommended for readers 12 and up, so if you have middle or high school-aged kids interested, then The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight should be age-appropriate.
