Egyptian history is a fascinating and seemingly endless well of mystery and storytelling used as a basis for countless Hollywood films, video games, books, and more. Next, Netflix will trek into the darkness in search of an unlooted tomb dating back thousands of years in the documentary film Unknown: The Lost Pyramid.

Netflix isn’t slowing down when it comes to releasing intriguing documentaries, and this summer, the streaming service will unveil four new films as part of its four-part Unknown documentary series.

The first of the bunch is Unknown: The Lost Pyramid, a fascinating journey into the sands of Saqqara as two world-renowned Egyptologists compete to uncover the mysteries of a long-lost pyramid.

The new documentary follows the celebrated archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass and his protégé/rival Dr. Mostafa Waziri. Hawass and Waziri race to find a pyramid lost to history, rumored to be hidden inside the ancient necropolis of Saqqara near Cairo.

Unknown: The Lost Pyramid will arrive on Netflix on Monday, July 3, 2023, followed by new Unknown installments every Monday through July 24.
