One of the amazing things about Netflix is its ability to introduce older films to a new audience upon their arrival on the streaming service. Time and time again, a classic movie will hit Netflix and reach an entirely new audience through the platform. The latest example of the Netflix effect is the Clint Eastwood movie, The Mule. 

Released back in 2018, The Mule tells the story of a ninety-year-old horticulturist and Korean War veteran turned drug mule for a Mexican cartel. Since its debut on the platform, the movie has caught the attention of subscribers across the US who have helped the movie reach the No. 2 spot in the Netflix Movies Top 10.

The Mule features some amazing songs across the movie, but there is no denying that the song which closes out the film is a true standout. Set against the final scene in the film, the song perfectly pairs with the emotional scene that is sure to bring tears to the audience’s eyes. If you’re watching The Mule and wondering what the final song featured in the movie is, that would be “Don’t Let the Old Man In” by Toby Keith.

The song “Don’t Let the Old Man In” was written about Clint Eastwood, who then asked Keith for the song to be featured in the film. Surprisingly, the song was not written directly for the film as Keith hadn’t even read the script before penning the song; however, it perfectly aligned with the film’s message and tone making it a perfect closing song and addition to the film’s soundtrack.
