Grey’s Anatomy is one of the longest-running shows around, and each season introduces us to new characters and medical cases. In Grey’s Anatomy season 19, one of the patients is a professional football player named Jermaine Talbott, who has been drafted by the Seattle Seahawks.

Given how the characters react to Jermaine in-universe, some fans have started wondering if the character/actor is a real NFL player and making a came on the show. We’ll fill you in on all of the details below!

Is Jermaine Talbott a real member of the Seattle Seahawks team?

If you were hoping that Grey’s Anatomy featured a fun cameo appearance from a Seattle Seahawks team member, then we’re sorry to disappoint you, but Jermaine “The Tank” Talbott is a fictional character created for the show.

The Seahawks are obviously a real professional football team and part of the NFL. The team is based out of Seattle, Washington, which is where Grey’s Anatomy takes place, so it makes sense why the writers chose the Seahawks to integrate into the show.

Actor Catfish Jean portrays Jermaine on the show and snagged a three-episode arc as one of the patients. His character Jermaine is a Haitian who came to Seattle to train for football. After being drafted into the Seahawks, he sustained an ACL injury that led him to his stay at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Jean shares some similarities with his on-screen character. He’s a Haitian-American that grew up in Miami, Florida. Besides Grey’s Anatomy, you might have seen him in the recent Oscar-nominated film To Leslie, which is also streaming on Netflix.

Spoilers ahead for Jermaine’s storyline in Grey’s Anatomy season 19

Jermaine’s first surgery was successful, but he later developed a large clot in his pulmonary artery. Tragically, Jermaine died during the procedure.
