As more and more Netflix shows from the United States become huge hits, plenty of international titles have also become hits both in the US and around the world. The latest foreign series to become a viral sensation burning up the top 10 on Netflix is the Colombian romantic drama Fake Profile has been one of the top shows on the streamer since its May 31 debut.

What is Fake Profile about?

In the series, a woman named Camila (Carolina Miranda) uses a dating app, but when she meets Fernando (Rodolfo Salas), she soon discovers he’s not exactly who he presented himself to be. His real name isn’t Fernando and he’s not the single man she thought he was. It’s a tangled and enticing web Camila enters while attempting to get back at this man and his lies.

Fake Profile is a big hit for Netflix

It’s still early, but Fake Profile already looks like a massive hit for Netflix. As mentioned, the show premiered at the end of May 2023, and it’s been one of the most popular shows on Netflix since then.

Upon its premiere ahead of June 2023, Fake Profile premiered at the peak position on Netflix’s Top 10 Non-English Shows ranking, bringing in over 76 million hours watched in its first few days of release. In the United States, the series remained in the top 10 for two weeks and became the kind of steamy series that got people talking up and down the timeline.

Fake Profile season 2 is happening

Fake Profile season 2 is officially happening on Netflix. The streamer renewed Fake Profile for season 2 on June 13, 2023, and announced the news on Twitter.

We know fans of the new series were waiting for renewal, so we’re happy this was such a quick pick-up!

Is there a release date for Fake Profile season 2 yet?

As of June 2023, we don’t know the release date for Fake Profile season 2 yet. Typically, we have to wait quite a while after a season is over to find out more information. Unfortunately, there’s just not a lot of information about Fake Profile season 2 out there just yet.

Fake Profile season 2 will likely arrive sometime on Netflix in 2024, though. Usually, we have to wait about a year and some change for new seasons of Netflix shows. We have to anticipate that will be the case with Fake Profile season 2.

Hopefully, the creative team is already working on the new season and they’ll move into production by the end of this year or early next year. As long as production is done by mid-2024, there should be enough time for Netflix to release the second season.

Fake Profile season 1 ending explained

The ending of Fake Profile season 1 is so wild! Let’s get to it.

After Camila is seemingly killed by Angela, it’s revealed that Camila is alive, and Miguel, who is helping get rid of her body, knows it. Instead of getting rid of her, Miguel takes her to a place where she can lie low.

There, Camila is attacked again! This time, it’s by Tina, who wants her revenge on Camila for other reasons. Tina ties up Camila and leaves her to die, but obviously, that’s not going to happen. Camila escapes and reunites with Miguel, who has just been involved in a car accident and left for dead by Angela. Camila and Miguel confront Angela together, and they jump out of a second-story window to escape after Angela opens fire on them. In the fray, Angela kills her father, Pedro, and she then goes to jail.

In the final scenes, we learn that Camila is back at work, with David, and living her best life, while Miguel appears to be very interested in her still.

There are obvious questions that remain. Is Pedro really dead? Will Angela get out of prison? What will she do when she gets out? All of those questions will likely be answered in season 2.
