It’s no secret Korean dramas are popular on Netflix, and one that’s definitely been gaining attention with viewers is the streamer’s newest addition — Bloodhounds! As of June 12, 2023, the series holds the No. 5 spot in the Top 10 T.V. Shows in the U.S. Today row. It’s just behind Arnold, FUBAR, Manifest, and Never Have I Ever. Is it an appropriate show to watch with your kids?
The eight-episode drama is centered around boxers and friends Gun-woo and Woo-jin. The former Marines work together to take down “evil loan shark” Kim Myeon-gil and his organization after he goes after Gun-woo’s mother, per the synopsis. It’s certainly an action-packed adventure that’s full of punches.
Is that where the violence stops though? Is the K-drama ok to watch with the younger ones? We’ve got the answer for you below!
Bloodhounds parents guide: What is the Korean drama’s age rating?
Bloodhounds is rated TV-MA, which means it’s meant for “Mature Audience Only” and shouldn’t be viewed by those under the age of 17. Shows are given this rating due to graphic violence, explicit sexual activity, or crude language.
It’s really no surprise that the series is rated TV-MA. If you just look at the trailer, you can see how many punches are being thrown around! Throughout the episodes there’s lots of violent situations and scenes, which really aren’t meant for the little one’s eyes. If your teens are interested in checking out the drama, we recommend a parent or adult present as they’re watching.
The series made its Netflix debut on Friday, June 9, 2023 and stars Woo Do-hwan as Kim Geon-woo, Lee Sang-yi as Hong Woo-jin, Park Sung-woong as Kim Myeong-gil, and Huh Joon-ho as President Cho. At this time we don’t know if a second season is happening, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
Bloodhounds is now streaming on Netflix.
