Is Never Have I Ever season 4 the last season of the Netflix teen series?

Calling all Never Have I Ever fans! Never Have I Ever season 4 is finally available to stream on Netflix, so now you can binge-watch it to your heart’s content.

The fourth season follows Devi and her friends as they go through their senior year of high school at Sherman Oaks High. Now is the time for Devi and Co to apply to colleges and decide what they want to do after high school. Obviously, Devi’s dream is to get accepted into Princeton, and she’s worked hard throughout her entire high school career to better her chances.

But what about her love life? In the shocking season 3 finale, Devi hooks up with Ben and loses her virginity. Will she end up with Ben at the end of Never Have I Ever season 4? Or maybe she and Paxton will rekindle an old flame. There’s also a new character introduced this season that shakes things up in Devi’s love life. Could this new guy be who Devi ends up with? It’ll be interesting to see how the season wraps up.

But will this be the last we see of Devi’s journey? In other words, is the fourth season the last season of the popular teen series? Here’s what we know.

Is Never Have I Ever season 4 the last season?

Unfortunately, Never Have I Ever season 4 is the final season of the teen series. The show’s creators, Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, announced the sad news back in March 2022 before the third season premiered.

Back in April 2022, Mindy Kaling spoke with Entertainment Tonight and shared why she and Fisher decided to end the show with the fourth season.

"“Four seasons for a high school show felt like it made sense. They can’t be in high school forever. We’ve seen those shows. Like, you’ve been in high school for 12 years. What is going on here? Also, the actors get older and it starts looking insane that a 34-year-old is playing a 15-year-old.”"

So, it looks like the decision to end the show with its fourth season was for creative reasons. Kaling and Fisher felt like they could tell Devi’s complete story in four seasons, so there wasn’t a need to continue the series.

But we could possibly see a Never Have I Ever spin-off in the future, according to Kaling. Kaling spoke with Pop Sugar in August 2022 and said she’s open to doing a spin-off if there is a demand. When asked which character the spin-off could be about, she mentioned Trent, played by Benjamin Norris.

"“Honestly, he’s so funny to me. He really makes me laugh, so finding out [more about] Trent and seeing what his haircare routine is every morning. I would definitely watch that show. I’d definitely like to write that show.”"

We will miss Never Have I Ever, but we can’t wait to see what new roles the cast will take on next.
