The day the Flight 828 passengers and Manifesters have long dreaded has officially arrived: the Death Date. Manifest season 4 part 2 follows Ben, Michaela, and their Lifeboat as they seek to beat the Death Date and save the world, and it marks the ending of the fan-favorite series.
When we last left the passengers in Manifest season 4 part 1, Ben and Michaela faced off against Angelina, who they presumed dead. However, she survived with the Omega Sapphire in her hand and volcanic fissures opening up around the city.
The second half of the final season meets back up with the Flight 828 passengers locked inside the Registry’s detention center. They’re blocked from the outside world and blamed for all the disasters facing the world. But are they able to save themselves and the world?

How does Manifest end?
In the penultimate episode of the series, Cal sacrifices himself to the dragon-shaped fissure at Storm King Mountain, where his sapphire connects with that of the Noah’s Ark fragment Saanvi previously tossed inside. He disappears in a bright blue beam, which Flight 828 passengers far and wide see as a beacon that draws them to the location.
On the Death Date, the volcanic fissure tremors and spits out the Flight 828 plane. One by one, the passengers get on the plane for their final judgment. Some of the passenger who committed bad deeds crumble into ash, and the evil in their ashes summons a shadow monster. The passengers defeat the shadow monster and fly directly into the Glow.
When they disembark Flight 828, they enter a bright white space before walking through a door leading back to the airport on April 7, 2013. They return to where they started from, though they have the memories of fighting to save the world for the past five and a half years. Their loved ones, including Grace and a young-again Olive, are blissfully unaware they were ever missing.
Do the passengers survive the Death Date in Manifest?
Although not all of the passengers survive the Death Date, yes, most of the passengers do save themselves and stop the end of the world. In order to survive the Death Date, the passengers needed to solve the Callings and do the most good as possible. Those who died committed awful acts without attempting to redeem themselves.
Saanvi, Eagan, and Adrian were three passengers who started to crumble into ash but were able to survive because the good they did winded up outweighing the bad. It wasn’t an easy road to get there, but the Flight 828 passengers managed to come together as a family unit to keep the Lifeboat afloat. But they never could have imagined where they’d end up.
How do the passengers get back to 2013 in Manifest season 4 part 2?
If you’re confused as to how or why the Flight 828 passengers get back to the day the cursed later flight took off, there’s really no concrete answer. As Michaela explains in the series-ending narration, they never found out exactly why they were chosen to save the world from their spiritual experiment and supposed prophecy.
But a simple answer for how they returned to 2013 is that instead of being chased by the Glow, the passengers who beat the Death Date flew right into the Glow. Flying into the Glow brought them full circle and gave them a second chance at living. Beside going into the Glow, Cal’s sacrifice was the key ingredient to bringing them back for a safe landing.
Why is Cal young again in the Manifest series finale?
In the season 3 finale, Cal returned from his disappearance five and a half years older. Throughout all of season 4, he was a grown adult played by Ty Doran. However, after Cal sacrifices himself and runs off the plane in 2013 again, he’s once again the same age he was in 2013 with zero memory of anything that happened — including being in his 20s for a couple years.
It’s unclear why Cal went back to his previous form and doesn’t have the same memories as his dad, aunt, and the other passengers. But it’s amazing that he and Olive get to be the same age and grow up together. If anyone deserved a second chance at life after everything they had all been through, it’s definitely Cal. Thankfully, Saanvi will now be able to cure him.
