Emily in Paris season 3 episode 3 recap: Coo D’êtat
“Coo D’êtat” translates to “strike against the state,” which is exactly what Sylvie does in episode 3. In search of a new location to run her new brand, Sylvie gets the bright idea to con Savoir out of their own rental space. Relying on the feelings the building manager has for her, Sylvie enlists him to treat the American tenants “like pests.” This involves neglecting the elevator repairs, cranking up the heat, and infesting the office space with a flock of pigeons. All of this torture leads Madeline to tank a meeting with Gilbert Group Corporate and she ultimately decides she wants to break the lease. Sylvie gets what she wants and moves Agence Grateau into the former Savoir offices.
Meanwhile, Alfie takes it upon himself to help Gabriel fix his romance with Camille (Camille Razat). Since the restaurant has never been busier, Gabriel’s finding it difficult to make time for Camille. So, Alfie suggests Gabriel bring the romance to a locale that’s convenient for him — Les Deux Compères.
By the end of episode 3, Madeline is at her wit’s end trying to make things work for Savoir’s French chapter. But after she fails to find a French replacement for Sylvie and the office move, the Gilbert Group suspends operations. Madeline makes plans to head back to Chicago and buys Emily a ticket, too, with the plan of filling corporate in on Savoir’s “insubordination and sweetheart deals.” But Emily doesn’t want that for her Parisian colleagues. Instead, she takes a stand against Madeline and decides to stay in Paris.
In a shocking twist, Madeline is accepting of Emily’s choice. But despite Madeline’s kindness, Emily now has to grovel to earn herself a role at Sylvie’s Agence Grateau.
