Bridgerton season 1

Now, first things first: When it comes to Bridgerton, there’s really no such thing as “worst.” Least best? Does that work? But in all honesty, that doesn’t really work for season 1, which introduced us to this sprawling, enchanting, romantic world. The pages of Julia Quinn’s novel come to life through the sharp TV eye of Shonda Rhimes, and it’s as near-perfect as you could get.

Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page pair up as Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Bassett — known to his stans as the Duke — for a thrilling will-they-or-won’t-they romance. By the time they finally get together, their relationship remains complicated, keeping you on the edge of your seat for the whole season. In the end, we’re happy to see them build a life together, at last on the same page.

The first season of Bridgerton isn’t bad by a long shot or any stretch of the imagination, but it’s personally not my favorite. Did I have an amazing time watching from start to finish? Yes! Did I became obsessed with the series for all the same reasons as the rest of its fans? Also, yes! But did other seasons have love stories I rooted for just a little bit more? Yes.
