XO, Kitty episode 3 recap: KISS

After the press conference bombshell, Kitty confronts Dae about the many lies he’s been telling lately including him having two girlfriends and the way he pretended to be rich when he should have known none of that mattered to her. Before Dae can explain himself, Q and Min Ho race in and tell the pair they have to get going so they’re not late for class.

Before we cut to the present timeline, we get a quick flashback used to provide some further context on Yuri’s relationship with Juliana. In the flashback, the pair share a sweet moment and nearly kiss before a housekeeper walks in on them before quickly exiting the room.

As we return to the present day, Yuri and Dae in which Dae expresses his concerns and desire to tell Kitty the truth. Yuri shuts the conversation down before telling him the truth about her real relationship with Juliana and the fear she has that Juliana’s parents sent her away because of their relationship.

Speaking of Juliana, she makes a surprise appearance in the episode, pulling Yuri aside into a storage closet to inform Yuri that her parents are indeed sending her away. Fortunately, Yuri’s fake boyfriend plan has already started taking some of the heat off of them. The hope is that they’ll keep their relationship hidden until things cool down with the plan to meet up to see the northern lights on New Year’s Eve.

Unfortunately, this plan is thrown a major curveball when Yuri’s mom takes away her credit card as punishment for her cheating on her summer assignment.

Switching the momentum back to Kitty, it turns out her test scores aren’t quite up to par with her classmates putting Kitty at the bottom of her class. Her teacher, Professor Lee, makes it clear she needs a tutor and she’s to report to the tutor’s office later that day to be assigned a tutor.

Before this detour, Kitty gets to play matchmaker in chemistry class after finding out that Q had a crush on Florian but is too afraid to act on it. Working her magic, Kitty manages to find a way to get Q and Florian paired together as lab partners but in the ensuing scheming, she ends up revealing a secret from Min Ho’s past — more on that to come.

After class, Kitty reports to the tutor’s office and is assigned her new tutor who happens to be… you guessed it: Dae.

It looks like Dae is going to finally tell Kitty the truth, but before he can do so Yuri shows up and tells him about how someone told everyone Min Ho was the “Poopy Baby” from a Korean ad, a secret Dae had told Kitty in confidence.

Feeling betrayed, Dae clams up and tells Kitty that his relationship with Yuri is real and returns the necklace Kitty had given him when they first met, leaving her speechless and confused in the process.

As the episode comes to a close, Kitty is back in the dorm attempting to take a photo to commemorate the first day of school. Q arrives and offers to take the photo for her which is when he ends up knocking over her mom’s photo album leading to a shocking discovery: a hospital bracelet from a Korean hospital with Kitty’s mom’s name on it hinting her mom had a secret baby during her year abroad!
