XO, Kitty episode 2 recap: WTF

After the bombshell Yuki dropped on her, Kitty runs off from the welcome party which is when we meet yet another key character. Kitty hears footsteps behind her and thinks Dae has followed her out, only to discover it was actually Alex Finnerty, a new KISS teacher from Australia.

As Kitty is getting to know Alex, we learn a bit more about Yuri and Dae’s relationship with the reveal that Dae is Yuri’s tutor and the son of her family’s driver. It’s quickly teased their relationship isn’t all that it seems to be when we discover it’s Juliana, not Dae, who is listed as Baby in Yuri’s contacts and who she’s been communicating with.

When Kitty returns to the party, seeing Yuri and Dae getting cozy as they take photos proves to be too much for her. She attempts to make a quiet exit but ends up crashing into a tower of cupcakes and making quite the first impression on everyone.

Embarrassed, Kitty races home to her dorm where she gets another major surprise. It turns out that she was assigned to the boys’ dorm due to a clerical error and has now found herself in Dae, Q, and Min Ho’s dorm.

With things falling to pieces around her, Kitty packs up and prepares to leave KISS behind her; however, fate has other plans. When leaving, Kitty comes across the tree and rock from many of her mom’s photos which she takes as a sign from her mom to stay.

Back at the dorm, the guys discover Kitty has left and Dae chases after her. His plan is to tell Kitty the truth about his relationship with Yuri, but before he can say anything his dad shows up and pulls him away to the car where Yuri and her dad whisk him away for a press conference.

At the press conference, Yuri’s dad — who we learned earlier in the episode is the president of a hotel chain — apologizes for an outburst in one of the Han Hotel kitchens and it becomes clear he needs some good press. As a sign of good faith to the media, he announces the Han Hotel Internship Program and introduces Dae as the first intern in the program.

After winning over the press with a joke, Dae rejoins Yuri as the family poses for photos. It’s then that Yuri goes to grab his hand, but Dae brushes it away which is when Kitty puts the pieces together: Dae and Yuri’s relationship is clearly fake!
