XO, Kitty episode 10 recap: OTP

Picking up right where the previous episode left off, Dae confronts Min Ho thinking that he’s the reason Kitty has broken up with him which is when she tells Dae about the feelings she’s developed for Yuri.

As that trio is hashing out their drama, Principal Lim breaks the truth about Alex to Professor Lim telling him she kept the baby from him as she didn’t want to derail his future. Later, Principal Lim and Yuri have a heart-to-heart and patch things up. Lim tells Yuri that Alex will be joining them for winter break so they can all get to know one another better and that Juliana is on her way back after Lim cleared things up with Juliana’s parents.

After a sweet call with her dad in which she comes out and reveals her feelings for Yuri, Kitty starts to pack her bags out of fear she’s going to end up flunking out. As she starts spiraling about her own drama, Q tells her about his drama with Florian and how he cheated so that he could pass his finals. This leads to a fight between the two when Kitty says Florian was wrong for cheating, something Q takes personally given how Kitty easily forgave so many others around her for their own digressions.

Okay, time for the question we’ve all been waiting for: did Kitty do enough to pass her finals?

Exam scores are posted in the dorms which is when Q discovers Florian’s cheating gave him the top spot in the class over Dae which we find out could spell major trouble for Dae, who is poised to lose his scholarship now that he’s not at the top of the class.

As for Kitty? Well, she passed her exams but in her excitement to see her scores, she raced out into the hall outing herself for living in the boys’ dorms all semester.  This is a direct violation of school policy and results in her losing her scholarship and being expelled from KISS.

While Principal Lim was unable to do anything about the school’s decision to terminate Kitty’s scholarship, they pair do share a sweet moment in which Principal Lim gifts Kitty with a letter her mom had sent when she first returned home to the US after her time at KISS. Kitty then gives Principal Lim the mixed tape she had discovered in her mom’s old things which we discover was from Professor Lee and was a gift to Principal Lim when they were dating.

With her scholarship terminated, Kitty packs her bags before saying goodbye to Dae leaving him the necklace and a note instead. When Q reveals that Kitty has left, Dae calls his dad for a ride to the airport with the hope of stopping her from leaving.

Luckily for Dae, he’s able to catch Kitty at the airport. Unfortunately, things don’t quite play out as we’re sure Dae was hoping as the two do not get back together; however, they do share a really sweet moment in which Dae tells Kitty that no matter what the future holds she’ll always be the first girl he loved and she tells him he’ll always be the first boy she loved, and that he was the perfect first boyfriend.

After bidding farewell to Dae, Kitty ends up bumping into Yuri. Just as Kitty begins to confess the feelings she’s developed for Yuri, Juliana arrives and she never gets the chance to tell Yuri just how she feels. Feeling defeated, Kitty sulks away as Yuri and Juliana reunite. Juliana is thrilled to see Yuri, but Yuri pulls back a bit and steps away to make a call to her mom fighting for Kitty and appealing the school’s decision to expel her — especially when they aren’t planning on also expelling the boys.

While boarding the plane, Kitty begins giving a voiceover that seems to be reflecting on her time at KISS wasn’t what she thought it would be, it was so much more. However, as she takes her seat we discover the voiceover was actually Kitty reading aloud the letter from her mom which Principal Lim had given her earlier in the episode. As it turns out, Kitty’s mom did have a first love before her dad as the letter ends with a reference to a mystery man named Simon — hinting there is still much for Kitty to discover about her mom’s time at KISS.

But wait, there’s more!

Still reeling from the letter, Kitty gets yet another surprise in the form of Min Ho, who is also flying back to LA and decided to ditch his cozy place in first class to fly coach as he thought Kitty could use a friend on the flight home. When Kitty tells him she didn’t get back together with Dae, Min Ho finally confesses that he’s developed feelings for her as the season comes to a close.

Needless to say, there are a lot of unresolved storylines as the season comes to a close so here’s hoping a second season will be coming soon!
