When Michael C. Hall leads a television series, it’s all but one of the most anticipated shows on the market. The Emmy-winning actor has been a part of two landmark TV series that have left their mark on pop culture: HBO’s Six Feet Under and Showtime’s Dexter. While he’ll soon return to has killer role as Dexter Morgan, the actor made a pitstop at Netflix for the thriller Safe.
Michael C. Hall stars in Safe as Tom Delaney, a widowed pediatric surgeon who has been having trouble connecting with his two teenage daughters in the wake of his wife’s death from cancer. As the family has spent a year grieving their beloved mother and wife, the disappearance of one of Tom’s daughters leads the father to become entangled in shocking secrets in search for her safe return.
Safe, a British and French co-production, premiered on Netflix in May 2018 and received mostly positive yet mixed reception from critics. Obviously, Safe didn’t make much of an impact, neither in viewership or awards recognition, but that doesn’t make it any less of an exciting addition to your watch list. Whether Safe was intended as a limited series or could have gone on for more like Big Little Lies doesn’t change the fact that Netflix ended the show after one season.
