Netflix shows canceled: Freeridge

Freeridge premiered on Netflix in February 2023. The series is a spinoff of On My Block, one of the most popular and best teen shows from Netflix so far. Freeridge was created by the same team behind On My Block, and it looked like it was set up for success on the streaming service.

The series featured a group of teenagers in the Freeridge neighborhood, a new mystery, and new drama, and it’s quite good! I’m kind of surprised this did not resonate with fans.

Unfortunately, Freeridge was not nearly as big of a hit as On My Block. Netflix announced Freeridge was canceled in April 2023.

It’s obviously a bummer that this show is ending. It was a great idea to continue telling stories in the world of On My Block because it was so successful for the streaming service. And, although the show has come to an end on the streaming service, hopefully, Netflix continues working with these great creators, writers, and cast members in the future.
