Netflix shows canceled: Northern Rescue

  • Created By: Mark Bacci, David Cormican and Dwayne Hill
  • Starring: William Baldwin, Kathleen Robertson, Michelle Nolden, Amalia Williamson, Spencer MacPherson, Taylor Thorne, Sebastien Roberts and Evan Marsh

Since easy-watching shows like Sweet Magnolias and Virgin River have found a home and solid fanbase on Netflix, it’s a wonder that more shows of the type haven’t found similar, if not equal, success on the streaming service. Northern Rescue, a show that shares a tone with the aforementioned hits, wasn’t able to last beyond its first season.

The Canadian drama series stars familiar faces William Baldwin and Kathleen Robertson as John West and Charlie Anders, in-laws whose lives become intertwined after the death of Sarah, John’s wife and Charlie’s sister. Northern Rescue tracks the changes the family faces as John moves his children out of their Boston home to his rural hometown of Turtle Island Bay

Unless you were suggested to watch the series on Netflix after finishing a similar series, you probably haven’t heard much of the one-and-done drama. Northern Rescue didn’t receive the best promotion, in turn lacking in the necessary buzz that turns a new release into a can’t-miss conversation piece. Although it’s not still churning out episodes of exciting family drama, it’s a worthy addition to watch lists for those waiting for new seasons of their favorite binges.
