Netflix shows canceled: Tiny Pretty Things

  • Created by: Michael MacLennan

If you’re someone who likes shows like Riverdale or Pretty Little Liars, you were probably all over Tiny Pretty Things when it was released. This thrilling drama series based on the book of the same name by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton dominated social media when it came out in December 2020.

Revolving around a prestigious ballet school based in Chicago, Tiny Pretty Things was particularly notable because the actors performed the dance sequences without using doubles (most of the time anyway), which is not always the case, especially for something as precise and demanding as ballet.

Like so many teen drama/mystery shows, Tiny Pretty Things had a murder at its center. The first episode begins with one of the dancers, Cassie, being pushed off a rooftop building by a hooded attacker (like A?), opening up a space for newcomer Neveah. Of course, there is plenty of other drama that plays out throughout the season, including lots of sex, drugs, partying, and all kinds of scandalous activity.

While not always the best written show out there, Tiny Pretty Things was plenty of fun, and there was another book in the series. Netflix could have at least adapted Shiny Broken Pieces, too!
