Netflix shows canceled: The Irregulars

Inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Irregulars was a short-lived mystery crime drama revolving around a group of “Irregulars” working with Dr. Watson to save London from succumbing to supernatural forces while also searching for Sherlock Holmes. The Irregulars never really stood out enough on Netflix to gain enough attention and followers.

For whatever reason, it just got lost in the constant barrage of film and television now being released regularly. Despite the exciting premise (namely the involvement of Watson and other characters created by Doyle), The Irregulars failed to generate enough views or attention to garner another season on Netflix. Shows with CGI and supernatural elements tend to be a little more costly than other series, so Netflix might have decided the production costs weren’t worth the views.

That said, in its early days, The Irregulars did best Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is pretty impressive. But it seems like the show might have taken a nosedive after that despite getting decent word-of-mouth reviews. The ending was pretty sad, too, even though they did manage to close the rip. The Irregulars is one of those shows that leaves you wanting more at the end, making its cancellation an even worse pill to swallow.
