Squid Game: The Challenge release updates, sneak peek, plot synopsis, and more details

The reality version of Netflix’s mega-hit show Squid Game is officially coming to the streaming service this November. During the Netflix Upfronts, they revealed that Squid Game: The Challenge is on track for a fall release and then on September 22, Netflix shared more information about the series, including the release date, new photos, and a teaser.

For those unfamiliar, Squid Game: The Challenge will follow in the footsteps of the massively successful Korean series by pitting 456 contestants against each other as they compete in intense games inspired by the show while competing for $4.56 million (the largest cash prize in reality TV history).

Previously, Netflix faced an independent safety assessment after concerns were raised over the welfare of contestants on the show, but no further action was taken. Some contestants even went so far as to say the show was “cruel” and “rigged.” You can read more about that right here.

The series will have ten parts, or ten episodes, in total. It’s unclear if it will just be a limited series or if it will spawn multiple seasons, that likely depends on how successful it is.
