With the release of XO, Kitty on Thursday, May. 18, fans are clearing out their schedules to give this Netflix original series their full attention.

We definitely understand the hype because the 2023 release is slated to be one of the most adorable shows we’ve received all year. What’s more, since the show is a spinoff of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before film series, viewers look forward to being swept off their feet by yet another love story as powerful as Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky.

Needless to say, the longtime fans of this franchise are in for a great treat. But if you’re new, you may be wondering if it’s too late to join in on all the fun. After all, three films and a full Netflix original series are a lot to take on in one sitting. Thankfully, we’re here to give you a rundown on what you need to know so that you, too, can enjoy XO, Kitty to the fullest.

Should I watch the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before films before XO, Kitty?

In our opinion, watching every single installment of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before prior to watching XO, Kitty isn’t particularly necessary, as the show gives you subtle nods to the events that happened before.

For example, in the official trailer of the 2023 show, Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) talks about one of her older sisters, Lara Jean, and her relationship with her partner, Peter Kavinsky. From this, you can not only deduce that Lara Jean and Peter ended up happily ever after but can also tell that Kitty looks to her older sister as a dependable role model.

In all ways, XO, Kitty and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before are standalone titles, so there’s no need to be overwhelmed by where to start, as you will still be looped in on all the important details. The ball’s completely in your court when it comes to which Netflix title you prefer to check out first!

Regardless of what title you opt to try first, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and XO, Kitty are two highly recommended titles. Be sure to head to Netflix to catch every second of both!
