It’s been another binge-worthy week of Netflix shows, thanks in part to the continued success of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The limited series prequel spinoff launched early in May 2023 and looks primed to become one of the year’s best Netflix shows.

For the week of May 8-12, Netflix released new shows such as Mulligan, Black Knight, Dance Brothers, Queen Cleopatra, and Missing: Dead or Alive, as well as Queer Eye season 7 and Ultraman season 3. But what were the week’s top shows on Netflix?

Each week, Netflix unveils the top 10 Netflix shows and movies, both English and non-English, along with how many hours the top titles were viewed around the world. This week, royalty kept the crown, while many other fan-favorites lingered in the ranking.

Once again, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story took the top spot of the most popular shows ranking, which has it on pace to potentially enter the top 10 most popular English-language Netflix shows of all time list. In its second week, the Bridgerton prequel series shows little signs of slowing down and has even inspired fans to rewatch the sire series.

According to data released by Netflix as part of their Global Top 10 TV Shows (English), these are the most popular Netflix shows of the past week:

  1. Queen Charlotte (158.68 million hours)
  2. Firefly Lane season 2 (31.9 million hours)
  3. Sweet Tooth season 2 (27.61 million hours)
  4. Missing: Dead or Alive (23.95 million hours)
  5. Bridgerton season 1 (23.88 million hours)
  6. The Night Agent (20.34 million hours)
  7. Queen Cleopatra (20.18 million hours)
  8. The Diplomat (18.37 million hours)
  9. Bridgerton season 2 (17.25 million hours)
  10. Sweet Tooth season 1 (11.01 million hours)

Queen Charlotte took the peak by a landslide, besting its debut weekend viewership figure of 148.28 million hours viewed. The limited series has now clocked in nearly 307 million hours viewed in the time since its release on May 4 and ranks in the top 10 in over 90 countries. What’s more, Bridgerton also ranked both of its seasons in this week’s top 10 as fans prepare for the release of season 3 later this year.

The week’s top 10 ranking includes three series that have already been renewed for new seasons. Sweet Tooth landed a renewal for a third and final season (which has already been filmed and will release in 2024) shortly after season 2’s drop. Meanwhile, The Night Agent and The Diplomat continue to dominate with the promise of second seasons for both fan-favorite shows.

Elsewhere on the week’s top 10, Firefly Lane’s final episodes continue to make fans cry over Kate and Tully’s bittersweet goodbye, and two docuseries leave their mark. True crime series Missing: Dead or Alive brought in a decent showing with four episodes, while fellow docuseries Queen Cleopatra debuted in seventh place for its first week.
