6. Virgin River

Virgin River is hands down one of the best romantic Netflix originals. I mean, it wouldn’t be on its fifth season if that wasn’t the case. The first season premiered in December 2019, and tons of people tuned in and instantly fell in love with the show.

The story begins with nurse practitioner, Mel, moving from the city to a remote town, looking for a fresh start. There, she meets Jack, the owner of the town bar and former U.S. Marine. Sparks start flying, and they eventually start dating. But of course, it doesn’t stay all rainbows and butterflies between the romantic pair. And Mel and Jack face many obstacles in their relationship. They even break up a couple of times. Still, the love between Mel and Jack prevails.

It’s a heartwarming love story, and we can’t wait to see what happens between them in Virgin River season 5.

5. Kissing Booth trilogy

We know we were supposed to only pick one film from the Kissing Booth film series, but we just couldn’t. All three movies should be watched because they’re just that good. While Virgin River is more targeted at an adult audience, the Kissing Booth films are targeted at teens.

The movies star Emmy nominee Joey King as Elle, a young teen who tries to juggle her friendships, romantic relationships, and school. Yes, we said romantic relationships. While Elle starts off liking one guy in the first film, she finds herself developing feelings for another guy in the sequel. And in the third and final film, we see who Elle ultimately chooses.

Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Molly Ringwald, Taylor Zakhar Perez, and others also star in the movies. Overall, the films are quirky rom-coms that are enjoyable to watch.

4. To All the Boys film series

To All the Boys is another film series that should be added to your watchlist if you’re a hopeless romantic. There are three movies in total, and I promise you’ll enjoy every single one. Lana Condor stars in the leading role as Lara Jean, a young teen girl who deals with typical teenage problems.

After Lara Jean’s secret love letters are somehow mailed off to her crushes, her life is instantly turned upside down. She eventually starts dating one of her crushes, Peter (Noah Centineo), but things become complicated as old crushes get in the way and college nears. Does she end up with Peter in the third and final movie? We’re not going to spoil anything, so make sure to watch the movies to find out.

3. Emily in Paris

A show set in the city of love has to be full of romance, right? Yes! Emily in Paris stars Lily Collins as Emily Cooper, a marketing executive who gets the career opportunity of a lifetime when she’s hired by a marketing firm in Paris to provide them with an American point of view. But it’s not easy juggling work, friends, and romance, especially romance.

Emily starts developing feelings for one guy, but things become complicated when she finds out that said guy has a girlfriend. And that girlfriend is her new friend… Although Emily still harbors feelings for him, she eventually meets a new guy and they begin dating. But, then, there’s a love triangle. Don’t you just love a good love triangle?

There have been three seasons of the romantic series so far, with a fourth season in the works. So, you might want to get started on Emily in Paris soon if you want to be ready for season 4.

2. Always Be My Maybe

Always Be My Maybe is arguably one of the best romantic Netflix originals. Ali Wong and Randall Park star as childhood sweethearts who, after having a falling out as kids, reunite 15 years later to find that they still have feelings for each other. However, they both have changed and live in different worlds as adults. Will they be able to rekindle an old flame? The only way you’ll be able to find out is by watching this lovely romantic comedy on Netflix.

1. Bridgerton

Bridgerton takes the No. 1 spot as the most romantic Netflix original! There have been two seasons of the period drama so far, and both seasons were smash-hits. It’s based on the popular Bridgerton book series by Julia Quinn and centers around the Bridgeton family as they attempt to find love in Regency London high society.

The first season focuses on Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings’s love story. The second season moves on to the eldest Bridgerton son, Anthony Bridgerton, as he searches for an eligible bride. He eventually finds that in the confident and witty Kate Sharma.

The upcoming Bridgerton season 3 will revolve around the relationship between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, and we can’t wait to see how their relationship turns from friends to lovers.

Bridgerton season 3 release updates (May 2023)

An official release date for the third season still hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s expected to be released by the end of 2023. Production is believed to have wrapped back in March, so the new episodes have been in post-production for about two months now. Our best release prediction for now would be sometime in late 2023.

We don’t foresee the third season’s release being pushed into the next year, but it’s possible with the writer’s strike going on. It’s unclear if post-production will be affected by the strike. But we’ll get back to you with the release date once it’s announced.
