Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

You just had to know that we’d include this show on the list. It’s what everyone’s watching and talking about at the moment. We watched this show for ourselves, and we’d say that it’s definitely worth checking out. There are only six episodes, so you’ll be finished with the series before you know it.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a limited series created by Shonda Rhimes. It’s a prequel to Bridgerton and takes place in two timelines. The first timeline takes place in the past in 1761. A young Queen Charlotte finds out she’s to be married to King George III and is forced to leave her home in Germany to move to England. Through this timeline, viewers see how Queen Charlotte rose to power. It also explores her marriage to King George III and how they fell in love. Additionally, Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton’s origin stories are told.

On the other hand, the second timeline is believed to take place in the present in 1817. This would be a couple of years after Bridgerton season 2 (1814). Queen Charlotte desperately wants to continue her and King George’s bloodline, so she forces her kids to get married to produce a royal heir. Meanwhile, Lady Danbury reminisces about the past while Violet Bridgerton contemplates dating again.

In the past timeline, India Amarteifio portrays a young Queen Charlotte, and Corey Mylchreest plays a young King George III. In addition, Arsema Thomas plays a young Lady Danbury, and Connie Jenkins-Greig a young Violet Ledger. In the present timeline, Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), and Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton) reprise their roles from Bridgerton.
