Who is Jacqueline Avant in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story? (Dedication explained)
Avant wasn’t directly tied to the series in terms of working on the production side. The former philanthropist was the mother-in-law of Netflix co-Chief Executive Officer Ted Sarandos. That’s where her connection to the series comes in.
For years, she was dedicated to helping serve underserved and underrepresented communities, per Variety. Avant died on Dec. 1, 2021, at the age of 81, after being shot in her home by a burglar. The one responsible, Aariel Maynor, has been sentenced to 190 years to life in prison. She’s the wife of music executive producer Clarence Avant and mother to political activist Nicole Avant, who is married to Sarandos. In her memory, her family has opened up a children and family center to continue her work and legacy, the news outlet shares.
