Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story episode 3 recap: Even Days
The third episode opens with a flashback to the past. It’s Coronation Day and Charlotte and George aren’t on speaking terms. Brimsley asks Reynolds where George is, but Reynolds doesn’t disclose his actual location. As Brimsley walks away, he sees George in the cellar being examined by a strange doctor. He asks Reynolds what’s going on, but Reynolds tells him to leave it alone.
Elsewhere, a young Violet listens in on her mom and dad’s conversation. Violet doesn’t like hearing her mom talk down on Lady Danbury and the rest of Charlotte’s court so she speaks up. Violet’s mother sighs and then walks away. Violet and Lord Ledger then smile at each other.
At Princess Augusta’s palace, Lady Danbury meets with Princess Augusta to give her updates on what’s going on with Charlotte and George. However, she lies and says that Charlotte and George have grown closer when that’s not actually true. Then, Lady Danbury asks Augusta if she and her husband can host the first ball of the season. Augusta immediately says no, but then she changes her mind and says she has to speak with Lord Bute first. Although Augusta doesn’t give her approval, Lady Danbury decides to start sending out invitations anyway.
Meanwhile, Charlotte and George constantly have sex in an attempt to make a baby. That way, they won’t have to deal with each other anymore. But it’s obvious that they’re actually enjoying themselves during the marital act. Later, Charlotte finds out from Brimsley that George is seeing a doctor. She questions George about it, but he doesn’t tell her the truth. She knows he’s lying, but she doesn’t keep bothering him to get the truth.
In the present, Lady Danbury finds Violet Bridgerton in the church. It’s Violet’s late husband’s birthday and Violet feels sad that she can’t celebrate it with him since he’s no longer living. Lady Danbury tells Violet that she’s fortunate, but Violet takes it the wrong way.
Back in the past, Charlotte meets with her ladies-in-waiting at Buckingham House while a young Mozart plays the piano. Lady Ledger and the other ladies-in-waiting tell Lady Danbury that they won’t be attending her ball. While this is happening, Charlotte looks out the window and sees a shirtless George walking from the garden. She questions him about it later, and he tells her he was farming. However, she’s still suspicious of him.
Later, Lady Danbury goes to talk to Charlotte. She asks Charlotte if she can convince the other ladies-in-waiting to attend the ball, but Charlotte is too preoccupied with trying to figure out what George is up to. So, Lady Danbury explains to Charlotte how important it is that she focuses on her role as Queen and not a man.
After Charlotte and George have sex for the umpteenth time, they finally make up and Charlotte tells George that they should attend Lady Danbury’s ball. Later at the ball, all the ladies-in-waiting end up showing up after finding out that the King and Queen would be attending. As more guests arrive, Lord Ledger and Lady Danbury share a sweet moment.
During the ball, none of the guests are mingling at first until Charlotte and George show up. Lord Ledger even asks Lady Danbury for a dance. The ball ends up being a success, so Lord and Lady Danbury have sex to celebrate. However, Lord Danbury ends up dying from a heart attack during the sexual act.
Back in the present, Lady Danbury apologizes to Violet and explains what she meant when she called her fortunate. Then, they make up and have drinks. At Buckingham House, Queen Charlotte asks Brimsley why her daughters have never married. He tells Charlotte that they never married because they don’t want to leave her all by herself. This hits home for Charlotte and she tells Brimsley to go away.
The episode cuts back to the past and Charlotte wakes up from her sleep to see George no longer laying next to her. She gets up and finds George writing on the bedroom wall while muttering the same thing over and over. Suddenly, George walks out of the room and goes to the garden. Charlotte chases after him. Once George makes it to the garden, he takes off all of his clothes and yells at the night sky while a confused Charlotte stares at him. Reynolds arrives at the garden at this moment. The episode ends with Charlotte convincing George to go back inside the palace.
